Andrew Callahan opened the meeting calling for officer reports. Reports were deferred until next meeting. The Treasurer reported that we have a balance $550 as he just paid dues for 22 members. Bob LaVoy and Kevin Paulk were nominated as new members. There was discussion and a motion to accept both by Joey Sims, George Zubulake seconded; motion passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned to the regular Toastmaster’s meeting for which the theme was “A Scary Meeting”. The Toastmaster was George Zubulake.

Kristopher Fisher opened the meeting calling for officer reports. Joey Sims read the minutes from last meeting, and they were voted on and approved. (Motioned by Adam Simmen, seconded by Jayson Campbell, unamiously approved.) The Treasurer’s report was deferred until next meeting. Cindy Hazen, VP of Public Relations, reported that the website has been updated. Adam Simmen, VP of Education, reminded us to be driving toward our goal of Distinguished Club.
Cindy Hazen nominated Julie Lewis as VP of Membership. Jayson Campbell made the motion to accept her as VP Membership; Joey Sims seconded; motion passed unanimously. Julie accepted the position. President Fisher presented the 2009 -2010 officers with officer pins.
President Fisher lead the following new members in the Toastmaster’s Pledge: Durward Blanks, Jane Bell, Andrew Callahan and Barbara Stewart.
President Fisher recognized Cindy Hazen for the special achievement of her company Sales Executives in being named “Best of Brentwood.”
Our goal is to induct 5 new members into our chapter before October 31, 2010 to achieve the SMEDLEY AWARD. Also, each individual that turns in a list 25 potential new members and contacts them to invite them to a meeting is eligible to receive the ACORN AWARD. The list must be turned in by September 30, 2009.
President then announced upcoming contests then adjourned the meeting to the Speech Contest.

Kristopher Fisher opened the meeting calling for officer reports. Cindy Hazen, VP of Public Relations asked for bio’s and head shots of members. Kristopher gave the VP of Education’s report asking for all to work on Competent Communicator and Competent Leader simultaneously as well as the Treasurer’s report of $1324 is our chapter’s bank balance.
President Fisher informed us that the September meeting will be a humorous speech and evaluator contest. He also noted that we will let the Toastmaster of the day lead the meeting without extemporaneous help from the audience in order to allow the Toastmaster to learn how to conduct a meeting. We will also begin and end on time – 11:00am to 11:30 to network; 11:30 to 12:00 to conduct business meeting; and 12:00 to 1:00pm for speeches. Kristopher noted that the club needs a new banner and suggested that members contribute $5 to a banner fund instead of the club using current funds.
There was a motion to have the banner read as President Fisher suggested by Cindy Hazen; seconded by Rick Kloete. Motion passed unanimously.
Jane Bell was nominated by Cindy Hazen to become a new member to the Metro Leaders Toastmasters club and seconded by Joey Sims. The club voted and Jane Bell was granted membership unanimously.

Kristopher Fisher passed out schedule of meetings for the 2009 – 2010 year. He reminded the members to use Turbobase to sign up for speeches and leadership roles for the upcoming meetings. If one is unable to attend the day for which he/she signed up, then to please contact others to replace oneself in that role. Adam Simmen, VP of Education, will be contacting members for their individual goals for this upcoming year. Cindy Hazen, VP of Public Relations, asked for members and leadership team to send her biographies for the website. She will also build a book of bios for the meetings.
There was a motion to amend the 2 April 2010 scheduled meeting to 26 March 2010 due to conflicts with Good Friday by Chester Butler; seconded by Cindy Hazen. Motion passed unanimously.

October 3, 2008 -- we celebrated one of America's favorite seasons--football season!
There were a few fumbles, but a good time was had by all!
December 7, 2007 -- It was a very festive holiday meeting as the theme was " Holiday Memories" as hosted by first time Toastmaster Adam Simmen. We enjoyed having Adam's father join us for the meeting. Our 2 speeches were very good, as given by Christain Heuer speaking on "3x3 Evaluations" and Jeff Turner's speech entitled "Christmas is Here". The Table Topics were hosted by Rick Kloete as Christain Heuer and Blain Wease did a fine job in response to Rick's topics. Evaluators were Ann Smithson and Blain Wease. The Grammarian was brittany Rogers and the Timer was Kristpher Fisher. The Best Speaker award went to Jeff Turner and Best Table Topics went to Blain Wease. Best Evaluator was Blain Wease. Our Best Jester Award went to Marquis Cayce. Lots of fun and laughter was present with a bit of Holiday Serious as well. The meeting ended on time and everyone left filled with the Holiday Spirit.
November 2, 2008-- Blaine Wease was Toastmaster. It was an exciting meeting with many guest in attendance. The speeches and table topics were very good and fun. The theme was "America the Beautiful". Speakers included Rick Kloete, Carol Kantor, and Liz Brymer. Brittany Rogers was our Timer and Joke of the Day. General Evaluator was Bernice Burns and Jayson Campbell conducted Table Topics. The Evaluators were Chester Butler, Charles Snyder, and Jeff Turner. Our Grammarian was Christain Heuer. Everyone had a good and fun time, and we ended the meeting on time.
July 6, 2007-- Stephanie Gutierrez was Toastmaster of a fun and high spirited meeting with two honored guest joining us in Jayson Campbell & Jennifer Brock. We were so excited to have new member Toya Powell join us. Tabletopics Master - Brian Bolden, Timer-Christy Campbell, Gen. Evaluator-Stephen King. Our speakers included Jeff Turner speaking on Turner Machines, Carol Kantor spoke on Nashville "moving where"?, and Chester Butler who spoke on Vegetables that make you fat! We had evaluators Christian Heuer and Kristopher Fisher. Best Speaker was Jeff Turner, Best Table topics was a tie between Jayson Campbell (Way to go Jayson as a guest!), and Bernice Burns. Best Evaluator was Kristopher Fisher. We look forward to Jayson running our next meeting.
May 4, 2007 -- Another first! Chester Butler was our Toaastmaster, his first time! Chester did a fabulous job as the theme was " A Not So Great Meeting". We had a Special Speaker in Keith McClusky providing his famous speech entitled" Use of the English Language and the word Great". Keith did a wonderful job. The other speaker was Stephen King and his speech was titled "Yes You Can". Evaluators were Cindy Houston Hazen and John Smitherman. The grammarian was Bernice Burns and the Timer was Stephanie Gutierrez. Table topics was conducted by Christie Campbell. Christy tried to stump the speakers, but to her surprise, we had three excellent table topic speeches. Blaine Wease spoke on the topic, "Double standard (woman) in the legal system, John Smitherman on " Why do woman wear make-up", and Tracye Mayolo on "Any experiences on using other words than the word "Great". All three did a wonderful job! The word of the day was provided by Goutham Samudrala and it was "Cogitate" which means to think deeply. The winners are: Best Speaker - Keith McClusky, Best Evaluator - Cindy Houston Hazen, and Best Table Topic - Blaine Wease. Also, for the 2nd time in a row, the most enthusiastic - Cindy Houston Hazen. We had a good meeting with a big crowd in attendance. Meeting adjorned in time.
April 20, 2007 -- John Taylor did an excellent job as first time Toastmaster! The theme was "Powerful Quotes". We had some wonderful speeches and Table Topics right out of the Yellow Pages! Table Topics Master Cindy Houston Hazen selected yellow pages ads for the speech topics. It was awesome! We had 2 speakers - Carol Kantor on Gestures in other countries, and Marquis Cayce speaking on the Tree of Knowledge. Two good speeches! The winner of the speaking contest was Carol Kantor, Table Topics - George Zubulake. Best Evaluator was a tie - Chester Butler and Stephen King. A new award was given - the Most Enthusiastic - won by Cindy Houston Hazen! We started and ended the meeting on time. It was a fun meeting, as usual, with Marquis's big tree limb the talk of the meeting.

Cindy and Rick were the winners of the contest, with Tracye and Stephanie serving as contest co-chairpersons.
Recent Events
Bonus Meeting March 23, 2007 -- We had an exciting Bonus meeting as we had our International Speech and Table Topics Contest. Our attendance was very good - it was good to see some familiar faces that have not attended our meetings in the past 2 months! After intense competition, the winner of the International Speech Contest was: Rick Kloete. His speech was on finding 4 leaf clovers. The much coveted Table Topics speech winner was: Cindy Houston Hazen! These 2 winners will be competing in the area contest to be held on Saturday March 31st. A special thanks to our honored guest - Keith Mclusky as serving as our Contest Chief Judge. Another Big Thank You to our Contest Chairpersons - Tracye Mayolo and Stephanie Gutierrez for their hard work on making the contest a Huge success! Good Luck Rick and Cindy in the Area Contest!

March 2, 2007 -- Spring is in the Air! was the theme for the meeting. We had good attendance with a total of 14, including 3 guest and a Special guest - Brook Reynolds area 40 Governor. It was good to have Brook visit our club! We had an exciting meeting with Kristopher Fisher as Toastmaster, Tracye Mayolo as Grammarian, Dr. John Taylor as Timer, and Christy Campbell as Table Topics. Speechs were given by Stephanie Guiterrez, Marquis Cayce, and Stephen King. Evaluators were Bernice Burns, Christy Campbell, and Carol Kantor. The highlight of the meeting was by John Smitherman, our Sergeant-At-Arms - as we went outside and had the Pledge of the Allegiance to the American Flag. The room that we were in was absent the flag. It was a beautiful day to go outside, and we almost conducted our meeting outside. We adjourned with "Spring in the Air".
February 2, 2007 -- Super Bowl was the theme for this meeting. Stephen King was the Coach ( Toastmaster) that lead this team on to Victory! The victorious ones were: Most Valuable Player on Offense ( Speech Winner) was Kristopher Fisher. Best Defensive Player ( Table Topics) was Blain Wease. The Special Teams Award goes to ( Best Evaluator) Tracye Mayolo. It was a very festive event, with the decorations and the " whistle" being blown during the game. We had 10 players attend and 2 guest. We did start late due to the weather that day. We had an even number of Colt and Bear's fans. Go Toastmaster Team!
January 5, 2007 -- Happy New Year to all! We started the new year off with a bang as 9 members met to the Toastmaster theme of: New Year Bliss. Nicole Dunigan was out entertaining Toastmaster for the meeting. This was her first meeting being Toastmaster, and she did a fabulous job! Her positive attitude and smile kept us going the whole time. Marquis Cayce was our Table topics Master, and he did a good job keeping us on our toes as the questions kept coming. There were 3 very good speeches presented, Bernice Burns topic was: Resolution or goals, Chester Butler's speech: "Reciprocity" and Stephen King's speech topic: '"The Battle". All three were interesting and very well presented. The Grammarian was Dr. John Taylor, and the general Evaluator was Cindy Houston Hazen. The best speech award was given to Chester Butler and the best Table Topics was given to Christy Campbell. A fun time was had by all and the meeting was adjourned.
Bonus Meeting December 15, 2006 -- End of the Year Celebration and Awards Ceremony for 2006. Santa Claus visited our meeting and read the Famous " Twas the Night Before Christmas" story. Elizabeth Brymer (timer) kept Santa on time, as did our Grammarian, Barbara Vicks, kept everyone's grammar in check as we dreamed of sugar plums dancing in our heads. All of a sudden, speakers Marquis Cayce, Cindy Houston Hazen, and Samudrala Goutham, appeared with 8 tiny reindeer and speeches to perform. And all to my wonder, evaluators John Taylor, Tracye Mayolo, and Stephen King arose out of sight to evaluate the 3 speakers. Presents under the tree and stockings included Best Speaker - Cindy Houston Hazen, Best Table topics, - Kristopher Fisher, and Best Evaluator - Tracye Mayolo first place ribbons. Santa and his loud "Ho, Ho Ho" could be heard for blocks to come. As I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight, Congratulation to : Tracye Mayolo - Toastmaster of the Year, Kristopher Fisher - Best Speaker of the Year, and Most Improved Speaker - Stephen King. These were the winners of the Annual Toastmasters Awards for 2006. A Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. Welcome to our guest at the meeting, Barbara Vicks and Charles Kilgore.
December 1, 2006-- The December meeting was exciting as one of our charter members was Toastmaster, George Zubulake. The theme was " Christmas at the Lecturn" as the lecturn was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The meeting continued in suspense as George told us during the meeting the top 3 favorite Christmas movies as voted by our fellow Toastmasters. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation was #1, Miracle on 34th Sreet in 2nd place, and Santa Claus 3 in third place. Dr. Sam presented a good line of Table Topic questions for our event. Christy Campbell, George Zubulake, and Liz Brymer competed and Christy Campbell won the best Table Topic Speaker award. Her topic was: which do you prefer, Christmas vacation or summer vacation? One interesting note was for one Toastmaster, the favorite thing to do at Christmas is to hide the "Christmas Pickle". The child that finds the pickle wins a special gift. We had 3 very good speeches, the first by Liz Brymer on "Holiday Stress" and 2 ice breakers by Chasity Russell and Chester Butler. Everyone did a fantastic job in their presentations. Best Speaker ribbon went to Chester Butler. Our 2 evaluators did a very good job as well. They were Kristopher Fisher, Dr. Sam, and Bernice Burns. The best evaluator went to Kristopher Fisher. Congrats to all for a good job well done! Our two guest were: Blain Wease with Provincial Development and Jane Campbell with Keller Williams. The meeting ended on time with everyone still talking about the dog 'Lucky" and the "Dog Psychic" that was mentioned in one of the speeches.
November 3, 2006-- The November meeting was held with our charter member Tracye Mayolo as Toastmaster! Tracye did a fabulous job of organizing the meeting and making everyone feel part of the group. We had 2 speakers and three interesting Table Topics speeches. We enjoyed the table topic speech on Pacman Jones by Dave Robinson, George's opinion of the political campaign smears, and Stephanie Gutierrez's talk about credit card purchases. The two speeches were: "Game Week" by Stephen King, having to do with a typical college football game week of events leading up to the game, and Dr. Steve Samadrala's speech on "Information Overload, the use of the Pick List. Kristopher Fisher was the General Evaluator and Chester Butler was the Grammarian, with Liz Brymer the Timer/Vote counter. The Evaluators were Christy Campbell and George Zubulake. Fun was had by all with laughter in the air and a serious note of everyone telling us what they were thankful for at this Thanksgiving Season. Stephen King took home the best speech award and George Zubulake was the winner of the best Evaluator contest. Liz Brymer won the fabulous prize for turning in her survey.
October 6, 2006 -- This October Meeting was held despite all of the last minute changes, including the meeting place itself. We had eleven attend, one moving speech and five outstanding Table Topic responses along with a Toastmaster tutorial. The meeting was held at the Cool Springs Marriott and the food was fantastic! Christy "Bootylicious" Campbell was out Toastmaster and she did an outstanding job under the circumstances of a new place and no lecturn, plus outside noise. John Taylor's icebreaker speech was very moving and hearfelt as he shared his thoughts, feelings, and plans for his 7-month old new baby. Leon Wright did a good and helpful evaluation of John's speech - good job Leon. Nicole Dunnigan presented an energetic Table Topics discussion of some extremely interesting and some hard questions for our speakers. Dave Robinson took the proze home for the best Table Topics. The meeting ended at 12:55 and Christy went to work encouraging our three guest to join our club.
August 25, 2006 -- This September meeting was attended by 20 people, a large crowd for our club! Stephanie Guitterez was the Toastmaster and she did a fabulous job. There were four speeches given, "Give Me Your Tired" speech by Kristopher Fisher, "The Unspoken Language" by Stephen King, "Shopping Experience" by Carol Kantor, and "Stick and Ball" by Leon Wright. All speeches were done very well and very entertaining. Evaluators were Cindy Houston Haizen, Tracye Mayolo, Christy Campbell, and John Smitherman. The Speech Winner was Kristopher Fisher and the Best Evaluator was John Smitherman
August 4, 2006 --This meeting was conducted under the Honorable Kristopher Fisher. Court was held in the trial of Opus Williams, alias William Morris, alias Morris Williams. The prosecution (speech) for the case was presented by Cindy Houston Hazen, Stephen King, and Kristin Fricke. The Defense was presented ( Table Topics) by John Smitherman and Leon Wright. Leon Wright also served as the Bailiff. The jury consisted of Tracye Mayolo, Brook Reynolds, and Marcus Casey. The word of the day was "I Object". This was used frequently during the trial. The verdict was: Best Speech - Kristin Fricke, Best Table Topics - Leon Wright, and Best Evaluator - Tony Hollingsworth. The Verdict of the Day for Opus was" GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS.m
January 5, 2006 -- Chester Butler won the Speech contest and Christy Campbell won the Table Topics contest for the January meeting. What a great way to start the New Year! Congratulations to Chester and Christy!
